About us

The North American Association of Scholars on Cameroon (NAASC), is an independent professional society established in the United States that is open to all scholars interested in Cameroon, regardless of national origin or academic discipline. The NAASC aims to promote scholarly research on Cameroon in all areas and disciplines of the social sciences, natural sciences, and humanities and to educate the public about Cameroon. You can learn more about the organization’s history here and it’s mission in the Bylaws here.

The NAASC is a coordinate organization of the African Studies Association of the USA (ASA-USA); read a NAASC December 2018 Statement on the Status of Cameroon supported by the Board of Directors of the ASA-USA. Additionally, the NAASC organizes panels, symposia, and conferences on Cameroonian studies at meetings of regional, national, and international organizations, including the ASA-USA and beyond.

We warmly welcome new members to the NAASC. Being an ASA-USA member is not a requirement to be an NAASC member. Membership is on an annual basis; learn more here.
